What Is ‘Made In Chelsea’ And How Quickly Will You Become Obsessed?

As of today, there are currently 13 whole seasons of Made in Chelsea available on Hulu. That might not mean much to you now, but minutes into the first episode you’ll get it. What is this British show and why should you care about it? Let’s explore.

What is Made in Chelsea?

Made in Chelsea is the British equivalent to The Hills, or even a Vanderpump Rules-type show. If you love a good reality show (that you know is maybe just a little bit fake) featuring a handful of gorgeous, young, rich friends frolicking around a cosmopolitan city, then you’ll find all of that (and so, so much more) in Made in Chelsea. These kids have endless money, can’t get enough drama, and they love to party and lead fabulous lives. Who wouldn’t watch 13 seasons of that?

From the love triangles to the vacations to the mascara-stained tears, you’ll be enthralled by all the ups and downs these pretty people engage in as they live their fabulous lives in the poshest parts of London. There are hookups and betrayals and parties aplenty, essentially everything you could want from a frivolous, end of year binge-watch.

Why is it compared to The Hills?

It’s not an accident that this show is frequently compared to the hit MTV series. MiC cast member Hugo Taylor originally pitched the idea for the British version of The Hills to MTV, but the series ended up coming to live on E4 in the UK in May of 2011. However, the casts have been known to mingle, and Stephanie Pratt even shows up in season six of MiC. The look, the feel, the drama — it will all fill that Hills-shaped hole in your heart.

So how quickly will I be obsessed?

Wait, you aren’t already? Don’t expect it to take more than one episode to get hooked. With names such as Funda, Binky, Caggie, and Cheska, so much of the show feels simultaneously exotic yet familiar, and you’ll want to keep up with all the juicy escapades they get themselves into. The crushes, the drinks, and the eye candy are all just about as delicious as it gets. It kinda feels like America is missing out on a show this mindless and fun at the moment, so let our pals across the pond take it from here. You just have to sit back, relax, and get ready to follow some new pals on Instagram.
