Now that the holiday season is over and 2017 is in our rearview, we can focus on the truly important things in life: health, happiness, and brand new episodes of NBC’s This is Us. The beloved drama hasn’t aired an all new installment since November 28th’s “Number Three,” which capped off the Pearson siblings’ standalone trilogy. That’s an absurd amount of time to go without a little Sterling K. Brown in our lives.

Sure, there are a trove of new shows and movies we can’t wait to stream in 2018, but we’re still eagerly awaiting the return of the Pearson family. When will The Big Three be back to make us laugh (and more likely cry) with all new episodes? Here’s when This is Us returns to TV!

WHEN DOES ‘THIS IS US’ COME BACK ON IN 2018?

Good news! The winter premiere of This is Us, an episode titled “The Fifth Wheel,” will air Tuesday, January 9th at 9:00 p.m. Eastern on NBC.

WHAT HAPPENED DURING THE ‘THIS IS US’ FALL FINALE?

The Big Three have seen better days. The fall finale, “Number Three,” saw Randall and Beth being forced to say goodbye to Deja; Kate and Toby dealing with the aftermath of losing their baby; and Kevin being arrested for driving under the influence. To make matters worse, Kevin was unaware that Tess was hiding in the backseat during his reckless joyride.

The first episode of 2018, “The Fifth Wheel,” deals with the aftermath of Kevin’s arrest.

WHAT’S ‘THIS IS US’ EPISODE 11 (“THE FIFTH WHEEL”) ABOUT?

IMDB notes that the episode revolves around the Pearson family reuniting under “unexpected circumstances.” What IMDB doesn’t tell you, however, is that the “unexpected circumstances” stem from Kevin’s issues with substance abuse. “The Fifth Wheel” begins with the family visiting Kevin in rehab and later features a powerful therapy session between Rebecca (Mandy Moore), Kevin, Kate, and Randall.

It wouldn’t be an episode of This is Us without a little Jack Pearson (Milo Ventimiglia), right? The flashback portion of “The Fifth Wheel” centers on Jack surprising his family with a summer vacation.
