Hugh Jackman’s Reaction To Losing The Golden Globe To James Franco Is Awards-Worthy

James Franco strong-arming Tommy Wiseau on stage at the Golden Globes may have been the highlight of his win for Best Actor, Musical or Comedy last night, but there was one reaction in particular that came close to upstaging Franco and all his quirkiness. Hugh Jackman, who was nominated in the same category for his performance in The Greatest Showman, seemed totally stunned during Franco’s speech.

Franco, who also beat out Steve Carrell for Battle of the Sexes, Daniel Kaluuya for Get Out, and Ansel Elgort for Baby Driver, brought Tommy Wiseau (the inspiration for his film The Disaster Artist) on stage, and proceeded to do an impression of him. This was seemingly where Jackman became lost (and totally bewildered), and it did not take long for the internet to take notice. Like Gerard Butler before him, Jackman was almost immediately elevated to reaction shot-gold.

Last night marked Franco’s second Golden Globe win (he took home his first back in 2002 for Best Actor in a Miniseries for James Dean). Jackman previously won for playing Jean Valjean in Les Miserables back in 2013.

It’s likely that Jackman simply hasn’t seen The Disaster Artist or The Room and was totally baffled by why Franco was putting on a strange eastern European accent, but his reaction still contains multitudes. We have a feeling he threw back a few glasses of champagne post-Franco win.
