What’s Streaming on Netflix Tonight: ‘A Serious Man’ + More

Welcome back to the ol’ grind, everybody! After the three-day weekend, aren’t you just fully ready to take the week with an enthusiastic vengeance??

…Okay, fine. BUT. The good news is that there are plenty of new movies and TV episodes on all the streaming platforms that are there to help you ease back into the world of productivity. On Netflix, there’s a multiple-Oscar-winner telling a fascinating true story. There’s also some wild stand-up comedy if you’re in the mood to laugh, and an underrated Coen Brothers classic if you’re mood to laugh and then have everybody else in the room look at you weird because you’re the only one laughing.

And of course, as always, there is that one good doctor.

In addition to Decider’s What to Watch recommendations for Tuesday, here’s what’s new on streaming tonight.

NEW ON NETFLIX

A Serious Man: Joel and Ethan Coen’s 2009 comedy/drama about Judaism and fate and pessimism and the cruelty of the universe was a Best Picture movie, yet it still feels like one of their most underrated movies. It’s a thinker, this movie, and its observations about American life, faith, and responsibility are not always easy to grasp. But Michael Stuhlbarg gives a fantastic performance — if you’re annoyed that he might not get an Oscar nomination for Call Me By Your Name, you’re gonna be real mad he wasn’t nominated for this one either.
GENRE: Drama
STARS: Michael Stuhlbarg, Richard Kind, Amy Landecker
IMDB SCORE: 7.0

Dallas Buyers Club: This 2013 movie won Oscars for both Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto. McConaughey was already riding the wave of the McConaissance after 2012’s Magic Mike, and Dallas Buyer’s Club, where he plays a Texas man suffering from HIV who goes to extreme lengths to get the medication he needs. Leto was somewhat controversial at the time for his performance as Rayon, an HIV-positive trans woman, though Leto won the Oscar as well. It’s a film that draws strong opinions on all sides, but there are lots of reasons to give it a look.
GENRE: Drama
STARS: Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto, Jennifer Garner
IMDB SCORE: 8.0

Katt Williams: Great America: Netflix says it best: “The king of underground comedy delivers unflinching riffs on the American political climate, racial tensions, sex, and his disdaid for roast beef.” Had me and then lost me, Katt, but you do you.
GENRE: Stand-Up
STARS: Katt Williams

NEW ON HULU

The Good Doctor: In the second half of a two-parter, there are complications with with a set of conjoined twins that were separated, which sounds stressful as f.
GENRE: Drama
IMDB SCORE: 8.5
