Lisa Kudrow Sets The Record Straight About A Possible ‘Friends’ Reboot On ‘Conan’

Last week, a trailer for a new Friends movie went viral as excited fans rushed to YouTube to check out what their favorite 20-somethings were up to in 2018. According to its YouTube page, the fan-made trailer “picks up a few years where the final season left off” and promises to be “an all-star extravaganza, while showing a lesson in being there for each other.”

Unfortunately, the Friends: The Movietrailer proved to be a ruse, but that didn’t stop fans from demanding an actual reboot, and it certainly didn’t stop Conan O’Brien from asking the same question to Lisa Kudrow on last night’s Conan. “When you hear about something like that, do you talk to the other Friends gang and say, ‘Hey guys, let’s get together and do a movie,’?” he asked the actress.

Kudrow was quick to dismiss the fake trailer, insisting that she doesn’t “know what to make of it.” She then added that rebooting Friends is probably not the best thing for the franchise, despite the fact that other great shows like Will & Grace and Murphy Brown are getting the revival treatment. “They’re rebooting everything. But I don’t know — how does that work with friends, though? That was about people in their 20s, 30s. The show isn’t about people in their 40s, 50s. And if we have the same problems, then that’s just sad. That’s not fun.”

Well, Friends fans, you have your answer. But if you’re still desperate to see Joey navigate Tinder in 2018, you can always check out Episodes.
