This Donald Trump And Michael Scott Face-Swap Video Is Either Hilarious Or Deeply Troubling

What started as a disturbing new trend in pornography has now become a… well, again, disturbing trend in online comedy videos. A week after we all learned that a Redditor named “deepfakes” has popularized the trend of slapping celebrity faces (think Daisy Ridley and Gal Gadot) onto the bodies of porn actors, a feat made all the easier thanks to an app called FakeApp, the X-rated fakery has tumbled out of the world of pornography and out into the daylight of goofy videos that get shared in family email chains.

The video: Donald Trump’s face on The Office’s Michael Scott’s body. See above, and be forever changed.

The humorous fake was uploaded to Dhruv Maheshwari and Jonathan Dubin (they were feeling mischievous!) and is a minute of Michael Scott nonsense talk coming out of Trump’s mouth. Thankfully this hybrid creature inherited Steve Carell’s hair.

If you watch the clip minimized on Facebook, the fake actually looks passable at times. It’s when you expand to full screen (as one would have to do in order to take a screengrab for an article) that things get unsettling. At quadruple the size, you start to see Michael Scott’s eyebrows tugging at the top of Trump’s forehead, as the fake face stretches around like a well made Halloween mask. But even more unsettling is the implications for the future. Where does this end? Will this tech evolve to the point that they can modulate Carell’s voice, changing it to Trump’s? Will people start swapping out all the Office faces for other people in Trump’s orbit? Stephen Miller is totally Dwight.

Anyway, you see where this can go from hilarious to horrifying real quick. We’re laughing now, but in a few years… ?
