When Is ‘Queer Eye’ Season 2 Coming To Netflix?

UPDATE (3/26/18, 12:48 PM ET): Netflix has confirmed that more episodes of Queer Eye are on the way, although they haven’t revealed when they’ll arrive.

UPDATE (5/24/18, 11:10 AM ET): Netflix has revealed that new episodes of Queer Eye will arrive on June 15, 2018.

If you’re anything like me, you had a hard time not plowing through all eight episodes of Netflix’s Queer Eye reboot in one sitting. It’s so good, right? Didn’t you cry, like, every 45 minutes on the dot? And didn’t you really cry when you learned that Queer Eye’s first season was only eight episodes?! That can’t be it! We need more deeply human transformations masquerading as fun and frisky makeovers! But eight episodes is all we got right now, eight episodes packed with awkward moments (that cringeworthy stand-up set!), tearjerking moments (that coming out conversation!), hilarious moments (literally everything in that ’70s house), and soberingly real moments (Karamo’s heart-to-heart with a Trump-voter/cop). So the questions we’re all asking are will there be more Queer Eye and when will it arrive?

So, will there be more Queer Eye?

There certainly could and should be more Queer Eye. The show is kind of a perfect reboot, one that keeps everything that worked about the original Bravo show while changing things up (the show is now set in the South) and injecting a whole lotta heart into the mix. The new Fab Five (Jonathan Van Ness on grooming, Karamo Brown on culture, Tan France on style, Bobby Berk on interior design, and Antoni Porowski on food) has dynamite chemistry and each bring something totally unique to the table. There are hundreds of guys for them to makeover in the Atlanta area, and we need to watch it happen!

The thing is, we don’t know if there will be more of the show just yet. Netflix only gave the show an eight-episode Season 1, which is noticeably shorter than most Netflix seasons (which usually have between 10 and 13 episodes). Looking at a list of Netflix’s original offerings, they really fall short in the reality department, having produced just three reality shows including Queer Eye. Chasing Cameron lasted one season, and Ultimate Beastmaster has released two seasons so far. If Netflix wants to get a foothold in the reality genre, I’d say Queer Eye is their best bet (and so far, critics agree).

When is Queer Eye Season 2 coming out?

No idea–yet. Netflix has not renewed the show for a second season, but if they do, there’s a possibility we could see more episodes in 2018. The first season shot over the summer of 2017 and was released in February 2018, meaning there’s about a six-month turnaround time (although that could be tightened should the show prove to be a hit and Netflix want to get more episodes out there; it’s not like this show has a crazy amount of special effects that need to be added in post).

Looking at Netflix’s only other multi-season reality show Ultimate Beastmaster might provide us with a timeframe: that show dropped its first season in February 2017 and its second season in December 2017. It’s always possible Queer Eye could do the same, if they were to film Season 2 this spring and get it out in time for the holidays (doesn’t Queer Eye seem like the ideal holiday binge?). But for now, who knows! Rewatch those eight episodes on repeat until Netflix makes a decision! [UPDATE: Netflix has confirmed that more episodes are on the way, on June 15!]

We will update this article as soon as we learn more about Queer Eye’s future.
