It was a while back that we learned Chris Rock had closed a record-breaking deal with Netflix for two standup specials for some $20 million a piece, and since then, we’ve been waiting patiently for the comedian to return to his standup roots. This morning, Rock announced that his special Chris Rock: Tamborine will finally hit the platform tomorrow – just in time to laugh through the season of love.

Chris Rock: Tamborine will mark Rock’s first special since 2008’s Kill the Messenger on HBO, for which he was paid about a quarter of what he’s raking in for each of these Netflix stand-up specials. Rock performed the show at New York’s Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) as part of his Total Blackout tour back in November, where they (understandably) locked up cell phones during the set. Directed by fellow funnyman Bo Burnham, the hour-long special will see Rock cover contemporary issues with the sharp, uproarious, and occasionally divisive observations we’ve all come to know and love.

These two specials aren’t the only two Rock/Netflix collaborations either. Earlier this month, a teaser dropped for The Week Of, a comedy flick set to drop on the platform later this spring starring Rock alongside Adam Sandler.

Chris Rock: Tamborine will arrive on Netflix February 14, 2018, so cancel your Valentine’s Day plans. Chris Rock has you covered.
