That Scandalous, Super Steamy Ice-Dancing Lift Won Gold At The Olympics

Unless you’ve been living under a thick layer of ice, you’ve probably heard a little something about Tessa Virtue and Scott Moir, the Canadian ice dancing team who have somehow managed to make the event infinitely more entertaining (and SEXY?!) than it should be. A little while back, the duo’s free skate set to “El Tango de Roxanne” and “Come What May” from Moulin Rouge! cooked up some controversy due to a one sexy move in particular – yes, that’s right, a quick lift reminiscent of, well, face-sitting.

After the Canadian press was reportedly scandalized by the lift, it seemed as though the move might be gone forever. (Though, if you asked Moir, it’s because it wasn’t “aesthetically that beautiful of a position”, not because it was basically sex on ice). When the duo performed their free skate last night, however, the lift was intact – and it won them the gold medal.

That’s right. Your favorite couple who may or may not actually be a couple (?) melted some serious ice last night. The lift once deemed too sexy for the Olympics made it back into the routine and became Virtue and Moir’s best free skate ever, earning them a total score of 206.07 and earning them that ever-coveted gold medal. Looks like the Olympic judges might not be total prudes after all, and they gave the soon-to-be-retired Virtue and Moir quite the sendoff.

During the PyeongChang Winter Olympics, the duo took home gold early on for Olympic Team Event, and last night’s gold made them the only skaters in the world with five Olympic medals in total, cementing their status as the greatest ice dance team in the history of the sport (and also, y’know, the hottest).
