Armed with a cast of newcomers and made for a millennial audience, the Jason Micallef-helmed series sparked controversy when its trailer debuted on YouTube and people got a liiiittle precious about the cult classic. Well, you shouldn’t knock something till ya try it, and thanks to our pals over at Paramount, you can now stream the first installment of the 10-episode black comedy for free. Starring Grace Victoria Cox and James Scully as Veronica and JD and Melanie Field, Brendan Scannell, and Jasmine Mathews as your new Heathers, the present-day reboot will also feature guest turns from Selma Blair and original Heather Shannen Doherty.
Perhaps as delightfully dark and wickedly funny as the flick, this reboot pushes the envelope in a whole new way. If you thought Heathers was bananas when it hit theaters in 1988, just wait till you see this gender-bent, social media-influenced, fresh take on the Winona Ryder/Christian Slater favorite. It’s rife with references to the original bound to please fans, but this kind of Heathers is a whole new thing. You won’t know what croquet mallet hit you.
