This weekend, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, HBO, Showtime, STARZ, Sundance Now, Acorn TV, BritBox, Shudder, Tribeca Shortlist, Walter Presents, and more are stocking up with some seriously great new titles for you to stream. From award-winning films to brand new originals, there’s something bound to please film buffs and die-hard bingers alike.
In the mood for some Grade-A sci-fi? The latest from Netflix and Moon director Duncan Jones, Mute, is now available to stream. If you’re feeling something a little more grounded in reality, Steven Spielberg‘s award-winning Lincoln is also now available on the platform, as well as Kathryn Bigelow‘s heart-pounding historical drama Detroit on Hulu. If you’re feeling something a little more long-form, new seasons of Bates Motel and The Tick are now streaming, as well as spooky period drama series The Frankenstein Chronicles. It’s the last weekend of February, so live it up. Here’s what’s new on your favorite platforms.
The Frankenstein Chronicles: Seasons 1 & 2 *Netflix Original
Starring Game of Thrones‘ Sean Bean and The Crown‘s Vanessa Kirby along with a marvelous ensemble cast, this British period drama follows Inspector John Marlott (Bean) as he hunts down what he believes to be a killer with a habit of gruesome dismemberment. Things are never quite as they seem in 1827 London, however, and he soon finds himself in a much darker situation than he ever could have imagined.

Mute (2018) *Netflix Original
If you loved Moon, the stunning sci-fi film starring Sam Rockwell, then you better get excited for Duncan Jones’ spiritual sequel, Mute, a futuristic sci-fi mystery film starring Alexander Skarsgard. Set in Berlin 40 years from now, Mute follows Leo Beiler, a mute bartender who embarks on a search for his missing partner with the help of two American surgeons (Paul Rudd and Justin Theroux).
The Tick: Season 1B *Prime Original

Starring Peter Serafinowicz in the title role, The Tick depicts a world where superheroes have been an established presence for decades. When a powerless accountant realizes his city is owned by a super-villain, he joins forces with the strange Tick to uncover this big, bizarre secret and save their city – but with the cliffhanger we were left on in episode 6, will good triumph?!
