Coming into the 2018 Winter Olympics, the USA's great big hope in figure skating was 18-year-old phenom Nathan Chen. Elizabeth Swaney's Skiing Scam
Elizabeth Swaney probably thought she had attained the Olympic dream: the skier managed to qualify to represent Hungary in this year's games. However, after a lackluster run on the halfpipe, people started to ask questions. Who was this sub-par skier? And how did she manage to get an Olympic berth? It turns out that Swaney is an American who sought Hungarian citizenship and then managed to qualify for the Olympics by skiing through a bevy of loopholes. She maintains that she's an Olympian fair and square, but it's definitely gotten people asking questions... That could be bad for future Olympians. [Source]

Elise Christie: The Cursed Speed Skater
Speed skating is full of spills. Skaters fall, trip, slip, and sabotage one another. However one talented Scottish skater seems to be under something of an Olympic curse. After falling in all of her major Sochi races, Elise Christie hoped that her luck would change in PyeongChang. Alas, she not only fell in her first big race (after setting records in qualifying rounds), but she aggravated an injury, tried to skate again on that foot, and tumbled once more. [Source]
