Bellamy Young Doesn’t Think Ryan Seacrest Should Host The Oscars Following Misconduct Allegations

Earlier this week, new details surfaced about the sexual misconduct allegations around Ryan Seacrest. However the rumors about these allegations paired with E!‘s recent investigation have caused one celebrity to question Seacrest’s role as a red carpet host for the Oscars. “I think this is the time to step aside and let someone of equal talent that is beyond reproach to be in charge,” Scandal‘s Bellamy Young told Variety at the premiere of A Wrinkle in Time.

E! wrapped up its investigation of Seacrest earlier this month, citing that there was “insufficient evidence” to take any action. In response to this report, Variety obtained an exclusive copy of the November letter that initially led to the investigation. Suzie Hardy, a single mother who was Seacrest’s personal stylist for years, claims that the Live With Kelly and Ryan co-host sexually harassed and assaulted her on many occasions. The report alleges that Seacrest pressed his erection against her, hit her butt so hard it bruised, and groped her vagina. Seacrest has called these accusations “completely baseless.”

During her interview with Variety, Young addressed how the current Hollywood climate has changed the conversations around consent. “I know it feels like the rules have changed, so I’m sure people who have been in dominant positions are taken by surprise,” she said. “Now that someone is asking, do you consent? And we get to say no, people have to accept our no and step aside.”
