Your Guide To The J-Pop Cast Of Netflix’s ‘Re:Mind’

Netflix has become an unofficial home for odd but great watches, and few shows fit that category better than the streaming service’s latest international thriller — Re:Mind. Created in association with TV Tokyo and Netflix, the drama follows 11 high school girls who wake up after being captured. They don’t know why they’ve been captured, who did it, or what’s in store for them. All they know is that they need to escape — fast.

From there, the series devolves into a mess of finger pointing, revealed secrets, and deceit as these girls begin to tear each other down while trying to escape. It’s a warped psychological series that inverts the sweetness of young female friendships, but there’s another reason why people may want to check this new series out. Its cast is almost entirely composed of the massive Japanese girl group Keyakizaka46.

Whereas most shows spend a decent amount of time introducing and establishing their characters, Re:Mind jumps in straightaway, fully confident that almost all of its viewers know its famous pop stars. That’s actually the conceit of Wood Dora 25, the overarching show the Re:Mind season is part of. Each season of the series takes a different hyper-popular Japanese group and casts them in a different crazy drama. There’s even another Wood Dora 25 season on Netflix — Million Yen Women. For fans of J-pop, these shows are exciting and fun-filled cameos. However, if you don’t know the world of Japanese musical idols, they can be a little bit more complicated. Consider this your brief guide to the 11 members of Keyakizaka46 who appear in Re:Mind.
