The End of the F***ing World is an 8-episode dark comedy that has captivated both critics and fans alike. Each episode is a twisted, aesthetically-pleasing and foul-mouthed journey following Alyssa and James, angsty teen runaways. In the course of just a few days, they blow up a car, break into a home, steal stuff, and murder a rapist. You know, just regular activities millennials partake in. Based off the comic by the same name, The End of the F***ing World was originally intended to have a one-season run. But that doesn’t mean fans aren’t thirsty for more of the modern day Bonnie and Clyde. As of now, there is no word about whether pr not The End Of The Fucking World Season 2 is in the works. Although there is only one book and the show was originally intended to be a limited series, it wouldn’t be unusual to move forward with a second season *cough* Big Little Lies *cough*.

Here are five characters that we are DYING to know more about.

1

James

The End of the F***ing World is the best show you've never heard of. The British series snuck onto Netflix in early January and stunned viewers with its dark storyline and deadpan humor. Young actors Alex Lawther and Jessica Bardens are incredibly convincing as two messed-up teens on the run from their parents, and their story only gets more twisted as the action rages on. Episodes of The End of the F***ing world are like Lay's potato chips: betcha can't watch just one.

In the final moments of the finale we see James (Alex Lawther) running away from the police and a gunshot is heard as screen cuts to black. However, we are’t quite sure who is the victim, or if the shot is merely a cliffhanger device. If James is not the victim of the mysterious shot, where is the self-diagnosed psychopath going to go now that he is one of the U.K.’s most wanted? Will he escape the clutches of the police? Will he get caught and sent to jail? Or maybe he will get shot down while on the run? Will he be reunited with Alyssa?! Ahhh! So many questions!

In the comic, James’ fate is left ambiguous after he kills a cop he turns around to find a cop standing behind him with a gun to his head. There are several ways James’ storyline could go and as seen in the television adaption, the show does make some changes from the comic. Regardless, the show would definitely not be the same without the emo heartthrob.

2

Alyssa

In Episode 8, James hits Alyssa (Jessica Barden) in the head to prevent her from running away with him, causing her to be apprehended by the police. If we are blessed with a Season 2, it definitely would be interesting to see if Alyssa is sent to the slammer. Maybe we would see her in court (perhaps cursing out a judge in true Alyssa fashion).

In the comic, Alyssa moves back to her mother’s home so that is a possibility as well. If the rebel does return to her old life, seeing Alyssa confront her step-father about his perverted behavior and generally sleazy nature is a subject Season 2 could explore. On that note, seeing Alyssa’s oppressed mother finally stand up to her husband would be the cherry on top of a woman-power sundae.

3

Detectives Eunice Noon and Teri Donoghue

As we are introduced to Eunice Noon (Gemma Whelan) and Teri Donoghue (Wunmi Mosaku), we quickly learn there is some sort of relationship between the detectives. It is implied that the two recently shared a romantic night together, but things become rather awkward as Donoghue brushes it off as a mistake. Tension is also evident due to Noon and Donoghue’s opposite work styles. However, Noon quickly becomes a fan-favorite as she goes from underdog to unexpected hero, even attempting to help Alyssa and James.

With that said, in Season 2, would Noon and Donoghue’s rekindle their budding romance or keep it professional? After all, Donoghue does finally come around toward the end of the season only to become the one who is rejected. Seeing Noon turn down Donoghue was very pleasing I might add. The dynamic between the two detectives is highly entertaining. Not to mention, Noon is one of the most “normal” characters in the show, so having the pair return would be essential. (Also is it just me or does Noon and Donoghue’s theme song totally make you nostalgic for Twin Peaks?!).

4

A low-key favorite is gas station clerk Frodo (Earl Cave). His time may have been short lived, but he will always remain in our hearts. I mean his name is Frodo, how could you not love this character? Even better, the teen helps to lock his naggy boss in a closet and tries to join Alyssa and James on their tour de runaway. You can’t help but feel bad for the shaggy-headed guy when James and Alyssa leave him in the dust…even after he grabs some gas station goodies for the roadtrip. It is apparent Frodo longs for adventure beyond his mundane job as a cashier. Seeing this awkward yet lovable character pop up in a sophomore season would be sure to please fans.

As we eagerly wait to learn the fate of The End of the Fucking World, you can binge the series now on Netflix.
