The Oscars Left Adam West Out Of The In Memoriam Tribute

Shame, shame, Academy. You left Batman himself out of your In Memoriam tribute last night.

There are always a few big names left out by mistake every year, but this year, as Eddie Vedder sang Tom Petty’s “Room at the Top” a pretty notable name was omitted. Adam West, who passed in June 2017 and famously portrayed Batman in the 1960’s ABC series, was sadly not alone in the omission.

Also left out of the tribute were Nelsan Ellis of True Blood, singer and actress Della Reese of Harlem Nights, The Lion King actor Robert Guillaume, Frasier‘s John Mahoney, and Reg E. Cathey of The Wire. Frank Vincent from The Sopranos, and Glen Campbell, who starred in True Grit and also picked up a best original song nomination, were also left out of the segment.

Powers Boothe (Sin City), Dorothy Malone (Written on the Wind), and Poltergeist director Tobe Hooper didn’t make the cut either.

So who did the Academy deem the most important death of the last year? Jerry Lewis was in fact the celebrity named at the end of the segment.
