Will & Grace’s new season on NBC has brought back a ton of cast members from the show’s original run. Bobby Cannavale, Molly Shannon, Jennifer Lopez–wait, Jennifer Lopez?! Yes, Jennifer Lopez! Tonight’s episode guest stars J.Lo herself as Jack (Sean Hayes) gets a gig as an extra on Lopez’s current NBC cop drama Shades of Blue. But this is far from Jenny from the block’s first trip to Will & Grace’s neighborhood.
While W&G’s later seasons were filled with done-in-one celebrity cameos, J.Lo actually stuck around for multiple episodes! She first appeared in the two-part Season 6 finale “I Do” and “Oh, No, You Di’in’t” where she showed up to perform at Karen’s (Megan Mullally) Vegas wedding. And when one of her two (specifically two, no more and no less!) backup dancers tripped on a shrimp tail, Jack rushed to take his place. Lopez performed “Waiting for Tonight” with Jack by her side, a fabulous turn of events that led to Jack going on tour with the superstar.
But that wasn’t the last we saw of Lopez! She returned for the Season 7 premiere “FYI: I Hurt, Too,” an episode set after the worldwind [sic] tour. Jennifer and Jack didn’t end the episode on the best of terms, though, as she fired him as her backup dancer and handed the problem that is Jack over to Janet Jackson. And yes, Janet Jackson appeared in the next episode of Will & Grace. What! A! Storyline!
Now after 14 years, J. Lo and J. Mac will reunite in an all-new episode of Will & Grace. Will they restart their whirlwind friendship, or will Lopez have had just about enough of Just Jack? We’re about to find out!
Will & Grace airs on Thursdays at 9 PM ET on NBC with new episodes hitting Hulu on Friday morning.
