It’s been a long, dramatic road for Netflix‘s House of Cards; arguably the platform’s first big hit, the series raked in awards love (some 53 Emmy nods!) and critical acclaim, but after allegations of sexual misconduct against star Kevin Spacey were raised, the show’s future seemed uncertain. Spacey was soon fired, however, and production for the series’ sixth and final season resumed earlier this year.

We finally got a glimpse of what’s to come with a teaser aired during the 90th Academy Awards, and Robin Wright‘s Claire Underwood is evidently ready to take her place as Commander-in-Chief. So what can we expect from a Spacey-less Season 6? Here’s everything we know about the final season of House of Cards so far.

What happens in the House of Cards Season 6 teaser?

There’s some hustle and bustle around the White House, and then Claire Underwood, rocking a sleek new hairdo, swings around from behind her desk in the Oval Office and says “we’re just getting started”. For those of us who are caught up on the show, her new position doesn’t come as much of a surprise. She left Frank in the dust in the Season 5 finale, taking things into her own hands, which, in hindsight, was a pretty convenient move on the writers’ part to write out Spacey.

What cast members are returning for House of Cards Season 6?

With Spacey out and Wright now leading the show, there’s certainly a shakeup happening behind the scenes at House of Cards. Last season killed off a few of our favorite characters, but so far, Michael Kelly, Jayne Atkinson, Patricia Clarkson, Constance Zimmer, Derek Cecil, Campbell Scott and Boris McGiver are all confirmed to be returning.

Are there new cast members joining this season?

Yep! Diane Lane, Greg Kinnear, and The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story breakout Cody Fern will all join House of Cards for its final season.

So what happens to Kevin Spacey in House of Cards Season 6?

It’s not quite clear how the show will explain Frank Underwood’s exit, since we all know he’d never go without a fight, but the most likely route seems to be killing him off. He’s had health issues for a few seasons now, and even if it’s not health related, there’s pretty much no form of murder off the table on House of Cards. He could get shot, pushed in front of a train, poisoned in front of a fireplace mid-coitus, or even do the deed himself! We probably won’t know for sure until the season is released.

When will Season 6 of House of Cards be released?

There’s been no release date announced quite yet, but as the teaser says, the show will return “this fall”. Here’s hoping for an Election Weekend release?
