Tommy Wiseau’s Joker Audition Video is Completely, Predictably Insane

Hot off the success of The Disaster Artist, the disaster artist himself wants a piece of a major Hollywood franchise. Tommy Wiseau, the mad mastermind behind The Room, has been actively campaigning for the gig of The Joker in Warner Bros.’ in-the-works origin film about the Batman villain. Who cares if Joaquin Phoenix is in talks for the role? Nothing will stand in Wiseau’s way!

To help sell Warner Bros. on the idea of handing over an iconic legacy role like the Joker to, well, the guy that made what’s widely considered the worst movie of all time, the folks over at Nerdist have given Tommy the platform to show off his maniacal laugh and devilish grin. The audition tape features a totally Dark Knight‘d out Wiseau, with stringy green hair, smeared red lips, and an unhinged glare. Of course that last one was also true of Wiseau in The Room and in the Best F(r)iends trailer and at the Golden Globes… y’know, it’s now apparent that Tommy’s been preparing for this role his whole career.

Wiseau tears into Joker lines previously spoken by Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger, lending to them a true sense of madness. Seriously, who says “Why so serious?” the way Wiseau does? It defies all logic, just like the Joker should! The bit even includes a cameo from “Batman,” played by Wiseau’s partner-in-weirdness Greg Sestero.

While it doesn’t convince us that his Joker would be a coherent one, you can’t deny that Wiseau brings some WTF edge to the character. He’s great for a three-minute audition tape, at most. You can watch the whole audition above.
