When Nickelodeon announced last week that Blue’s Clues would be returning to television, it didn’t seem like too insane of an idea. Reboots are popping up left and right, and what better programming to revive than an adorable animated blue dog and a man in green striped shirt acting in front of a blue screen? While many of us would love to see our beloved Steve return, the network actually plans on hosting open call auditions – and the first to put his name in the running was none other than WWE wrestler (and actor) John Cena, who crashed the announcement in the host’s trademark green striped rugby shirt.

The would-be beefy new Blue’s Clues host won’t be booking the role without a fight, however. Upon hearing that Cena was gunning for his old position, beloved former host Steve Burns challenged the 16-time WWE champ to a fight. “I like the idea that the host of Blue’s Clues could be like a regular lookin’ guy,” said Burns. “That the host of that show really could be your friend, really could be someone who you might meet, and who isn’t like a… super buff amazing professional wrestler.”

“I think if John Cena is serious about hosting Blue’s Clues, he and I should wrestle for it,” Burns told TMZ. “I’m calling you out, Cena. Right now.”

If it’s any consolation to Steve (who probably has some clue that this fight would… not go his way), Nickelodeon is willing to hire both of them.
