Hulu’s TV Tournament Is March Madness for Serious Streamers

It’s March and that means it’s time for [airhorn noise] March Madness! Basketball, colleges, brackets, college basketball, brackets about college basketball, all that–okay, if you can’t tell, I’m all shrugs when it comes to sports. But March is the one time a year when even sports opposite-of-aficionados like myself can get involved, because who doesn’t love a good bracket?

And Hulu has some good news for bracket fans: in addition to enabling viewers to stream all of the real March Madness action, Hulu has kicked off their own #HuluTVTournament pitting 64 shows–all available to stream on Hulu!–against each other in a battle to crown Hulu’s streaming champion.

If you watch TV shows as much or more than you watch college basketball, then this bracket is spuuuuh-cifically for you. The tournament is broken up into four divisions: Animation, Classics, Original 16, and Wildcards. Here’s the lineup in each division:

As Hulu told Decider, the shows were selected by the Hulu social team on the basis of streaming popularity, cultural relevance, and cult status–and man oh man are there some nail-biting match-ups. Can the uplifting This is Us family defeat the Paddy’s Pub gang? Does Chance stand a chance against Difficult People? Is Hulu trying to troll specifically me with this Golden Girls vs. Bob Newhart Show match-up?! My two favorite shows, pitted against each other?!

Here are some of the head-to-head competitions that you can vote in right now:

Voting is open for the first round right now, with new rounds going up daily on Twitter all the way up to the final show-down on Monday, April 2nd. Follow @hulu on Twitter or the #HuluTVTournament hashtag to keep up with the madness–and don’t forget to vote! And also, you know, don’t forget to stream these shows as well as March Madness. Your viewing schedule is booked solid!
