‘Real Housewives of New York’: The Most Essential (aka DRUNKEST) Episodes of Season 9

Season nine of The Real Housewives of New York City was nothing short of legendary. It truly was an exemplary season for the Bravo show, in so many ways. And with season 10 right around the corner (April 4th!), if you need to catch up or freshen up on what happened last year, you can pour yourself a glass of tequila and fire up Hulu for all the best (aka: drunkest) moments that we’ll never forget (although the women might have).

One of the best things about the women of New York is that they party like no other Housewives city ever dares to do. And between the fractured friendships, doomed I do’s, and free tequila, well, there were plenty of opportunities for craziness. From the Hamptons to Mexico (and that’s not even including trips to Vermont and the Berkshires), these women bring the drama and the drunkenness wherever they go. And we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Season nine of RHONY also tackled the 2016 election and how each woman processed (or ignored) the politics of our country, but honey, there is not enough tequila in the world to make those episodes tolerable. It will continue to be “too soon” until 2020. Instead, these are the episodes where there is at least a bit more laughter. Where, try as they might, Sonja and Ramona’s room selection process can’t take away the fun of Luann’s multiple missteps, and where a full body flashing equals fun.

So depending on how much time and tolerance for debauchery you’ve got, these are the episodes it would be absolutely shameful to miss. Clip!

Episode 3, "A New Low"

This episode sets up much of what’s to come this season, a bit of foreshadowing, if you will. As the women hang in the Hamptons, a fateful lunch finds Ramona and Luann talking about Bethenny right in front of her face, but not TO her face. Ramona brings up Bethenny’s daughter Brynn, but it’s not until the words “wicked” and “witch” are used in their conversation that B decides she’s had enough and gets up from the table. Their relationship has their highest ups and lowest downs throughout the course of the season and this lunch is, in true RHONY fashion, as uncomfortable as it is entertaining.

Episode 13, "A Bronx Tale"

A change of scenery for the women…does nothing, really. They’re drunker, louder, and funnier than ever at a lunch in the Bronx, which will not only have you laughing, but will leave you with your new favorite catchphrase, “Clip!” Dorinda birthed this one after a particularly tense argument with Sonja, and it’s as effective as it is genius. In fact, this lunch should be inducted into the Housewives Hall of Fame ASAP as it’s everything great about this franchise.

Episode 16, "Three Tequila...Floor!"

The Mexico trip was life-changing for its participants and viewers alike. Honestly, the first episode almost doesn’t deserve an Essential Watching stamp because witnessing Sonja and Ramona’s savage room decision making process is straight up stressful. They wreck havoc on an entire house bitching about room selection and it’s not cute, it’s angering.

But, leave it to Lu to save the day by falling in the bushes (and then falling down AGAIN!) as one of the most historic moments in Housewives history. “That’s bad,” she declares after the second fall, but she’s very wrong. It’s entirely TOO good. And it’s not that you don’t want to miss it, it’s that you won’t be able to stop watching it over and over again.

Episode 17, "Tequila-Thon"

Bethenny brings the gals to a day-drinking tequila tasting field trip and in watching this episode, you’ll have to wonder if you’ve ever actually been drunk. Certainly not in the way these women are! It is truly remarkable to watch the way these women drink, and how a never-ending flow of tequila can repair even the most broken of friendships. It’s the vacation that keeps on giving!

Episode 18, "Make Out, Make Up"

The alcohol supply isn’t going anywhere, but the clothes are. As the women strip down, both showing their naked bodies and naked emotions, the city gals come together in maybe the most solid front we’ve ever witnessed from this group. They leave Mexico all…on good terms. Really! But you’ll have to see it to believe it (and enjoy it) yourself.

Episodes 20-22, Reunion Parts 1-3

Now, obviously the reunion episodes are simply can’t-miss TV. The women reveal who they voted for, Luann starts to hint towards cracks in her marriage (the reunion was filmed three weeks before she announced her divorce from Tom) and of course there are tears and yelling and laughs. It’s three episodes of riveting TV, as only the RHONY women can provide.
