‘Glee’ Star Matthew Morrison Outraged Over Dog Abuse Video

Former Glee star Matthew Morrison has spoken out about an animal abuse video that has surfaced and is connected to his latest project. A video obtained by TMZ shows what is allegedly a dog in a cage being placed in a precarious situation on the set of Crazy Alien. PETA provided the clip to the site and is now demanding accountability from the movie’s cast and producers.

PETA was the first organization to obtain the footage from a whistle blower on the set of Crazy Alien. Because of the camera’s angle and the dark background, the video is difficult to see. The video shows a crane lifting a cage that allegedly contained a young German Shepard high into the air. A rope keeping the lifted cage balanced then snaps, causing it to fly through the air and land in a river below. The act allegedly took place on November 28, 2017 on a set in China, and the whistle blower called the stunt “one of the worst animal cruelty acts I have ever seen.” According to TMZ, the scene was shot several times.

A day after TMZ wrote about the existence of the footage, Crazy Alien‘s lead actor and former Glee star Matthew Morrison has spoken out about the video. “I’ve just been made aware and seen a video from the set of a film I worked on in China. My heart is broken to see any animal treated this way. Had I been on set or known about this, I would have made all efforts to stop this. I’ve called the producers to express my outrage,” he said.

The sci-fi comedy is directed by Hao Ning. Since the footage was first found, PETA has demanded that the production take several steps to be held accountable for the dangerous scene, including that the scene be cut, director Hao Ning commit to never working with live animals again, and that the cast donate their salaries to animal-protection charities. Crazy Alien is currently in post-production and doesn’t yet have a release date.
