It was a surprisingly emotional night for animated Fox comedies Sunday (March 18). Before Family Guy sent Stewie off to therapy, The Simpsons aired an episode from longtime writer Kevin Curran, that sadly premiered posthumously after the writer died at age 59 in October 2016, in Los Angeles from complications with cancer.
The episode titled “Homer Is Where The Art Isn’t,” included Saturday Night Live‘s Cecily Strong and this weekend’s SNL host Bill Hader as guest stars, and found Homer accused of stealing an expensive painting. A detective from the 1970s is the only one who can clear his name or send him to jail.
And while Curran worked on The Simpsons since the late ’90s, including being credited as co-executive producer on 282 episodes, he left quite his mark on Hollywood. While attending Harvard, he served as an editor on the Harvard Lampoon, and went on to write for The Late Show with David Letterman where he picked up three Emmy awards. Plus, Curran was a not only a writer on Married with Children — he also served as the voice of Buck the Dog!
