Bill Hader‘s triumphant return to Saturday Night Live this weekend proved to be just what the doctor ordered. Hader gifted us with the Mooch in the cold open, bumped into things (and people) in a wheelchair, and brought back our beloved Stefon for an uproarious Weekend Update segment that introduced us to his lawyer (and conceptual piss artist) Shy, played by comedian and former Saturday Night Live writer John Mulaney.

Hader appeared on Late Night with Seth Meyers last night to promote his new HBO show Barry and recap the weekend, and the two swapped anecdotes about some of their favorite sketches – and revealed what it was that made Hader break when Mulaney whispered in his ear that Saturday.

In the segment, after Stefon asks Shy if “people still use” a certain word, Shy whispered something unintelligible in his ear, leaving Hader in bewildered laughter as Mulaney exited with a thumbs-up. It turns out that much like the surprise bits Mulaney historically adds into Stefon’s script last-minute, the comedian whispered something completely random to Hader to try to break him.

“He whispered in my ear to make me laugh, he said ‘my girlfriend works at Yoshinoya Beef Bowl’, which is a restaurant chain in LA,” Hader confessed through laughter.

Mulaney may have thrown the joke in as a curveball for Hader, but we can’t help but think ‘Yoshinoya Beef Bowl’ sounds exactly like the kind of club Stefon might recommend.
