Was Justin Bieber the Worst Guest Host in ‘Saturday Night Live’ History?

Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen has a reputation for delivering prime celebrity gossip with a refreshing amount of frankness, and last night, the talk show didn’t disappoint. During an interview with Bill Hader and Jay Pharoah, a caller asked who the worst SNL guest was. Pharoah and Hader barely hesitated before agreeing on their pick — music megastar Justin Bieber.

“I mean, we both know, dog,” Pharoah said while turning to his former cast-mate.

“Yeah, it was Bieber,” Hader quickly replied.

So what made the singer behind “Baby” and “Never Say Never” such a bad host? When Hader first talked about the singer in 2013 on Howard Stern’s show, he criticized Bieber for having too many people and compared him to his favorite guest, Justin Timberlake. “Justin Bieber showed up with like 20 guys,” he said. “He had a guy holding a slice of pizza. A guy holding a Diet Coke. You’re trying to fight through all these people to get dressed. Timberlake, it was just him. He’s a real class act, that guy.”

Hader was a bit more vague in his Bieber criticisms this time.”He was just in a bad place. Maybe he’s in a better place, but then he was — it was rough,” Hader said. “He just seemed exhausted or at the end of a rope.”

Though it’s not the worst guest story, Pharoah had his own great recollection about an extraordinarily famous music icon. “I saw Kanye yank somebody,” he said. “That was pretty hilarious.”

Let us all never forget the time Kate McKinnon sold underwear as boy-man Justin Bieber or the time Kyle Mooney challenged Kanye West to a rap battle. Saturday Night Live truly is a magical place.
