‘Stranger Things’ Wins Big At Kids Choice Awards, Millie Bobbie Brown Salutes ‘March for Our Lives’

Saturday morning’s March for Our Lives, organized by students in Parkland, Fla. to demand governmental change in the wake of the catastrophic gun violence that has claimed thousands upon thousands of lives, was still very much on the minds of the 15,000 celebrities and guests attending the 2018 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards held that same evening at The Forum in Inglewood.

Hosted by John Cena, the award show opened with a salute to those students leading the charge in demanding monumental gun reform.

“All over the world, kids made their voices heard with the incredible March for Our Lives and it all happened because you want to make the world a better place,” said Cena. “You see, change is only possible when you all work together and its ‘s inspiring to see kids tale charge. That is the true spirit of Nickelodeon.”

Stranger Things star Millie Bobbie Brown, who wore the embroidered names of the 17 Parkland students murdered on her shirt, took home the Favorite TV actress award, used her thank you speech as an opportunity to speak about the power of the younger generation in creating a positive ripple affect in the world.

“More than anything I get to be up here and I’m privileged to have a voice that can be heard and one that I can use to hopefully make a positive difference and help influence change,” said the British actress. “There’s an Amazing support love and kindness in this room right now and I want to encourage everyone to embrace it and to pass it one. For the angels among us, your spirit lives on. This is for you.”

The Greatest Showman starlet, Zendaya, who nabbed the Favorite Movie Actress award, urged the pint-sized kids in the audience to not give up hope, thanking those kids with whom she marched in the morning.

“Don’t ever let age limit you,” she told them.
