Donald Glover Reveals (Maybe) Why His ‘Deadpool’ Fell Apart With “Leaked” Script

Donald Glover is a pretty busy guy; with hit series like Atlanta under his belt and the upcoming Solo and Lion King movies, the multi-hyphenate is never not writing, acting, or making music. It seemed like he was on track to continue his nonstop schedule with an animated Deadpool series over at FX with his brother and frequent collaborator Stephen, but that all came to a screeching halt a few days ago when it was announced that the plans for the series were scrapped.

The statement from FX attributed the series’ cancellation to “creative differences”, but folks speculated that it might be due to Glover’s busy schedule. Glover put all those rumors to rest, however, when he took to Twitter this morning about his involvement in the short-lived series.

Glover then proceeded to post a 14-page “script” for the Deadpool animated series finale, which included references to Donald Trump, Bitcoin, Facebook’s recent data scandals, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver and yes, the now-infamous Beyoncé biting incident.

So who bit Beyoncé? According to Glover’s script, the Bey biter was Sanaa Lathan, but the actress has so far denied these claims. Whether Glover knows the truth or is jumping on a biting bandwagon remains to be seen, but we have to give him credit for the to-the-minute references. We can’t imagine why FX and Marvel wouldn’t have greenlit this.

Based on this biting (no pun intended) fake script alone, one thing is pretty clear: Donald Glover’s level of petty productivity is truly aspirational. (And we’d definitely watch this fake series.) Read the “Finale” in its entirety here.
