Netflix Acquires Seth Rogen? Here’s What’s Actually Happening

Looks like April Fool’s Day has arrived early this year.

If you take a trip to the Netflix home page you won’t be greeted by ads for Wild Wild Country or Santa Clarita Diet, instead you’ll find a quizzical photo of Seth Rogen along with the headline “Netflix Acquires Seth Rogen.”

If true, this is a big get for the streaming giant.

…But of course it’s not true. The campaign is actually a fun way to promote Rogen’s upcoming Netflix comedy special Hilarity for Charity. Premiering on April 6, the star-studded event will combine stand-up, sketches, music, and more to raise awareness for Alzheimer’s disease. Netflix fully committed to the bit, changing their Twitter background and altering their bio to read “Please send inquiries to srogen@netflix.com.”

Decider emailed the account and received a prompt response.

Hello loyal fan / persistent detractor,

I am currently away from my desk doing rich successful Hollywood things like hanging out at an exclusive club or getting into a fight with the del taco counter staff. If you have any questions that need immediate attention, please feel free to search your local police scanner for mentions of Del Taco.

Best,

Seth Rogen
