Molly’s Game

Aaron Sorkin wrote and directed this taught telling of a true tale about an Olympic hopeful that switched gears and ran an exclusive high-stakes poker game while still in her 20s. Jessica Chastain turns out a barnburner of a performance as the titular Molly, a role that earned her a Golden Globe nod. Sorkin’s script even earned him an Oscar nomination, although he lost out to Call My By Your Name. As of now, Molly’s Game is only available for purchase, although it should be available to rent in a few weeks.

Paddington 2

Listen, do you really need to be convinced to watch Paddington 2? The movie stars an adorable, furry icon of children’s literature and a cast of endearing English actors (Sally Hawkins and Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw). It’s also the best-reviewed movie on Rotten Tomatoes ever, so you know you aren’t going wrong. If you don’t want to pay full price for 105 minutes of family-friendly fun, you’ll have to wait until April 24 to be able to rent it.

Eyes Wide Shut

You know every time something sexy yet disturbing happens on a comedy show, usually a character wearing a creepy mask and/or robe, and someone says it’s “just like Eyes Wide Shut but _____”? Well, now’s your chance to find out what they’re talking about because this sexy thriller is now available to rent for just ninety-nine cents! Then-married couple Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman star in this film, the last one from visionary director Stanley Kubrick. And… honestly, who knows what it’s about? Going off of those jokes and the Mad-Men-promo-on-AMC-level vague trailer, one can assume it’s about a married couple that gets involved in a dangerous sex cult. Is it? If you’ve got a dollar and time to kill this weekend, you can find out!
