When it comes to presidential scandals, is anything surprising at this point? The whole Stormy Daniels saga–wherein an adult film actresses has alleged that she had an extramarital affair with the current president over a decade ago–has clearly gotten a lot of attention and big ratings while still somehow not being the most controversial thing going on on any given day. We live in wild times.
That’s why while it might come as a surprise to learn that Seth Rogen is involved in this whole scandal, it’s hardly shocking. It turns out that Rogen, along with presumably anyone within earshot on the Knocked Up and 40-Year-Old Virgin sets, have known about the alleged Daniels/Trump affair for over a decade. It’s hard to imagine Flip Wilson having the inside scoop on Watergate, but Rogen having the inside scoop on a presidential sex scandal somehow makes sense today.
The reveal came during Rogen’s appearance on The Ellen Show, as Ellen DeGeneres wanted to know why she found pictures of Daniels at the Knocked Up red carpet back in 2007. Rogen revealed that Daniels worked on both that film and The 40-Year-Old Virgin, saying that they hired porn stars to play strippers in strip club scenes rather than actresses. “For Stormy, that was the easiest thing she did all week.”
“I’ve known Stormy Daniels a long time and I’ll be honest: she may have mentioned some of this stuff around 10 years ago,” said Rogen. “At the time, when you ask a porn star who they’ve been sleeping with and the answer was Donald Trump, it was like the least surprising thing that she could have said.”
Rogen didn’t think much of it at the time. As Trump’s campaign started, and kept going strong despite numerous epic scandals, Rogen realized Stormy’s stories probably wouldn’t make an impact. “It didn’t really occur to me that it would come out or anyone would care about it, but then when I saw it I was like, ‘Oh yeah, Stormy told us all about that.'”
With all the lawsuits flying back and forth in regards to this specific affair, one can only wonder if Rogen will be called in to testify for one reason or another. Don’t say that’s far-fetched, either. Clearly nothing is too far-fetched.
