A 10-Year-Old Is Now the Youngest Champion in WrestleMania History

As the biggest pro wrestling event of the year, WrestleMania 34 was packed with jaw-dropping stunts and epic matches–but none were quite as jaw-dropping or epic as the WWE Raw Tag Team Championships. That’s because the match included not only the youngest wrestler in WWE history, but it resulted in the youngest WWE champion in history.

Braun Strowman has emerged as a fan favorite over the last few months, and last night’s tag team match has cemented that. Strowman earned his way into the tag team championships all alone, a controversial move since you need a partner in order to be a team. It’s right there in the title! But Strowman teased his partner’s identity, drawing out the mystery and hyping it up in a series of videos that led to rampant speculation. Would his partner be the Undertaker, or Rey Mysterio Jr.? Nope!

It turned out his partner was a 10-year-old fan named Nicholas, who Strowman plucked out of the crowd and planted ringside during his tag team bout against the team of Cesaro and Sheamus.

After winning against Cesaro and Sheamus, Nicholas became the youngest person ever to win a championship built.

Following the match, Strowman and his new tag team partner talked to the WWE Network. When asked by he chose a 10-year-old as his partner, Strowman said he really relied on instinct. “Something in my heart told me this is what I needed to do, so I went out into the crowd and I found this young man and he helped me pull out a victory for both of us tonight at WrestleMania.”

When asked how he liked winning the tag team belt, Nicholas said, “It was good. I enjoyed it.”

One thing’s for sure: Nicholas is gonna be the talk of his elementary school when he heads back to class.
