New Movies On Demand: ‘Fifty Shades Freed,’ ‘Den of Thieves,’ ‘Hostiles’ And More

Let’s be frank: if you’re watching a movie this weekend, you’re probably watching Avengers: Infinity War. The movie has already outsold every other Marvel movie in pre-sales, so even if you go to the theater to see something that isn’t Infinity War, you’re gonna be surrounded by thousands of Marvel moviegoers. This is a gonzo bonkers weekend for movie theaters–so maybe if you don’t already have Avengers plans (you could still find front row tickets to the 1:15 AM screening of Infinity War), you should just stay home and find something else to watch. Lucky for you because all sorts of new movies are available to watch today! Whether you use Amazon VideoiTunesVudu or your cable’s on demand service, there are always a lot of new releases out there waiting for you to discover!

Need some pulse-pounding action? You can now rent the Gerard Butler heist/thriller Den of Thieves. If “Gerard Butler heist/thriller” doesn’t entice you, know that the movie also stars 50 Cent and a whole lot of violence! If you’re looking for something a little more grounded, the Christian Bale western Hostiles is also available to rent on VOD services. And if the entire family needs something not superhero-based to watch together, the adorable and acclaimed Paddington 2 is ready to help you out! It’s now available to rent, if your Saturday night needs a real pick-me-up.

What else can you buy or rent this week? Find out by taking a look at the collection of steamy romances, animated action films, and all-ages adventures now available for you to enjoy from the comfort of your very own home!

Fifty Shades Freed

Listen: you know what you’re getting here. If you’ve seen Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades Darker, then know that Fifty Shades Freed delivers more of the steamy goods–but not all of the goods! Will Anastasia and Christian’s marriage go the distance, or is their relationship headed for an early climax? You can buy the final chapter in the popular erotic trilogy right now, or you can wait until May 8th when it’s available to rent for a day.

Batman Ninja

It’s Batman like you’ve never seen him before–seriously! The latest animated feature from DC Entertainment reimagines the Dark Knight, the Bat Family, and his gallery of rogues as modern legends of Japan. This full-on anime makeover comes courtesy of Japan’s top animators and turns the caped crusader into a sword-wielding samurai as he goes toe-to-toe with a cackling, maniacal Joker. You can buy this alternate take on Batman digitally right now, or you can wait and rent it on May 8.

My Scientology Movie

Documentarian Louis Theroux set out to make his own movie about the inner workings of Scientology–and then the unexpected (but still totally expected) happened. The notoriously cranky (and that’s being overly generous) religion not only pulled out all the stops to try to shut the doc down, their methods became increasingly confrontational and invasive. So Theroux’s documentary about the extreme methods Scientology goes to to maintain secrecy and deny numerous allegations of abuse became the target of that exact methodology. This doc is a truly wild ride, one that you can go on for just under a dollar!
