Will Ferrell & Molly Shannon’s “Cord & Tish” Will Host The Royal Wedding For HBO

Do you love zany comedy even more than you love true love? HBO announced today that Funny or Die’s Cord and Tish will be hosting their network’s live coverage of Prince Harry & Meghan Markle’s royal wedding. The Royal Wedding Live With Cord And Tish! will air live exclusively on HBO and its streaming platforms on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 7:30 AM ET. An encore of the broadcast will air in primetime at 9:45 PM ET.

Cord Hosenbeck and Tish Cattigan are original characters created by American comedy icons Will Ferrell and Molly Shannon. The conceit was that Cord and Tish are long-time hosts of the annual Rose Parade, and that things typically go a little haywire during the broadcast. This past New Year’s Day, Amazon partnered with Funny or Die on the very first Cord and Tish live event, the aptly named The 2018 Rose Parade Hosted By Cord & Tish.

Amazon ran one of the few live streams of the Rose Parade, and Cord and Tish’s absurd ramblings took some more serious-minded viewers by surprise. When we spoke to Funny or Die President of Digital Chris Bruss about how the event, he said that despite the polarized response, it was considered a huge success: “I mean, I don’t know, but it’s not every show that premieres that gets this much debate and attention, and you’ve got people who are starting to post their own made up stories about how they met Cord and Tish…their personal histories with Cord and Tish.”

It will be interesting to see if HBO’s viewers are in on the joke, or if they get riled up about Cord and Tish rambling through Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s big day.
