Netflix’s ‘The Rain’: Will There Be a Season 2?

Thanks to Netflix’s latest international thriller, you have a brand new natural disaster to worry about. The Danish drama The Rain follows two siblings who team up with a group of survivors after a toxic rainfall wipes out most of Scandinavia. Can they survive? And if they can, will they be able to trust each other in the middle of this apocalypse? Spoilers ahead.

As we’ve covered before, Season 1 of this thriller ends on a pretty big cliffhanger. So what are the odds that we’ll see a Season 2 of this series, and if we see another season, where will it go? Here’s what we know so far.

Will there be a Season 2 of The Rain?

You bet there will. Less than a month after Season 1’s premiere, Netflix announced that there will be a Season 2 of the series. This new season will premiere sometime in 2019. Stay dry and focus on surviving, my friends.

How did Season 1 of The Rain end?

After traveling for weeks and hopping from bunker to bunker, Simone (Alba August), Rasmus (Lucas Lynggaard Tønnesen), and their new friends finally made it to the safety of Apollon headquarters. However, soon after they arrived and Simone and Rasmus found their dad, they realized that their new quarters were far from safe. The only way for Apollon scientists to extract the cure from the now contagious Rasmus is to kill him. Simone was not about that plan.

She tries to drive everyone out of the headquarters. When she learns that not everyone can go with her, she turns back around. The final episode ends with the siblings trapped in a community that wants to kill Rasmus but with their new friends. Bittersweet is one way to describe it.

What could happen in Season 2?

If Season 2 does happen, we’re probably going to see our heroes on the run a lot more. Also, we’ll likely learn more about Apollon’s nefarious plans. At the moment it’s unclear what they’re up to. but whatever it is, it’s not good.
