Little Women Jo March Maya Hawke — **MAYA HAWKE as JO MARCH**
**Who's Jo March?:** Josephine "Jo" March is the tomboyish writer in the family. She bristles under the weight of all the expectations thrust upon her and dreams of a life where she can court danger and seek out adventure. She is not only the second oldest sister in the March family, but is considered the avatar of author Louisa May Alcott.
**Where You've Seen Maya Hawke:** *Little Women* is technically Maya Hawke's debut, but you're about to see a lot more of her. She'll co-star in *Stranger Things* Season 3 and is the eldest daughter of stars Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke. Photo: PBS/BBC

Little Women Amy March Kathryn Newton — **KATHRYN NEWTON as AMY MARCH**
**Who's Amy March?:** Amy is the baby of the family, and because of that, she's usually the most selfish. If she's not the center of attention, she finds a way to be. Still, Amy is a talented artist with an ambitious streak of her own.
**Where You've Seen Kathryn Newton:** Actress Kathryn Newton has popped up in a couple big projects in the last year. She was Leslie Mann's daughter in the hit comedy *Blockers* and appeared as Reece Witherspoon's eldest daughter in last year's *Big Little Lies.* Photo: PBS/BBC

Little Women Beth March Annes Elwy — **ANNES ELWY as BETH MARCH**
**Who's Beth March?:** Beth is perhaps the sweetest of the March sisters. Known for her shyness, Beth here is depicted as suffering from a crippling anxiety disorder. Beth is also an accomplished pianist and has a heart of gold...almost to her detriment.
**Where You've Seen Annes Elwy:** Welsh actress Annes Elwy is pretty new on the scene, but you may have caught her in *King Arthur: Excalibur Rising* or in an episode of Amazon's *Philip K. Dick's Electric Dreams*. Photo: PBS/BBC

Little Women Meg March Willa Fitzgerald — **WILLA FITZGERALD as MEG MARCH**
**Who's Meg March?:** Margaret "Meg" March is the oldest March girl, and as such, she's often seen as the most ladylike and grown up. Meg is kind and caring, but has an itch to be a society girl.
**Where You've Seen Willa Fitzgerald:** Willa Fitzgerald has been steadily building a resumé for herself over the last few years. She appeared on Amazon's *Alpha House*, MTV's *Scream*, and will have a co-starring role in the upcoming adaptation of Donna Tartt's *The Goldfinch*. Photo: PBS/BBC

Little Women Marmee Emily Watson — **EMILY WATSON as MARMEE**
**Who's Marmee?:** Marmee" is the loving nickname given to Mrs. March. She's a woman who is ahead of her time, in terms of her ideals and intelligence. She encourages her daughters to not only pursue their dreams, but to take responsibility for their community.
**Where You've Seen Emily Watson:** Emily Watson became an international sensation back in 1996 when she starred in Lars Von Trier's *Breaking the Waves*. The role won her an Oscar nomination. Little Women Mr. Laurence Michael Gambon — **MICHAEL GAMBON as MR. LAURENCE**
**Who's Mr. Laurence?:** Mr. Laurence is Laurie's imposing grandfather. He is stern and demanding, but has a secret soft spot for Beth, who reminds him of his beloved daughter.
**Where You've Seen Michael Gambon:** Irish actor Michael Gambon is an acting legend. He's been in dozens upon dozens of plays, films, and television shows, but you probably best know him for playing Professor Dumbledore in the bulk of the *Harry Potter* films. Photo: PBS/BBC

Little Women Jo and Mr. March Dylan Baker and Maya Hawke — **DYLAN BAKER as MR. MARCH**
**Who's Mr. March?:** Mr. March is the March family's kindly patriarch. He is away fighting in the Civil War at the start of the series and his grave illness takes Marmee away from her girls.
**Where You've Seen Dylan Baker:** Dylan Baker is a stalwart character actor who's appeared in a myriad of film and TV productions. Most recently, he had an arc on *Homeland*, appeared once more on *The Good Fight*, and acted opposite Jessica Chastain in *Miss Sloane*.Photo: PBS/BBC

Little Women Aunt March Angela Lansbury — **ANGELA LANSBURY as AUNT MARCH**
**Who's Aunt March?:** Aunt March is Mr. March's wealthy and imperious aunt. She lives in the stately house Plumfield and employs Jo, and later Amy, as her companion.

Whether you love or hate PBS’s brand new reboot of Little Women — and believe me, just scrolling through my personal twitter feed, I’ve seen that there’s quite a divide — you have to admit that it’s chock full of stars. The Little Women cast features compelling up-and-comers like Maya Hawke, Kathryn Newton, and Jonah Hauer-King, as well as stalwart stars of the stage and screen like Emily Watson, Dylan Baker, and Angela Lansbury.

In fact, I would go so far as to say that the best part of the new Little Women is its cast. Maya Hawke plays Jo March with a mix of fiery insolence and dreamy ambition. Blockers star Kathryn Newton doesn’t even try to make Amy March, often the most hated March sister, all that likable. Jonah Hauer-King is a perfectly dreamy Laurie, Annes Elwy is a sweetly sorrowful Beth, and Willa Fitzgerald gives Meg a zippy kind of elegance.

But Little Women isn’t just full of stars on the rise. There are some veritable acting legends in this show. Academy Award nominee Emily Watson brings her innate elegance to Marmee, Murder She Wrote‘s Angela Lansbury makes for an appropriately imperious Aunt March, and Michael “Dumbledore” Gambon shows up as Mr. Laurence.
