Did Donald Trump Fake A Phone Call During A ‘Saturday Night Live’ Table Read?

Back in 2015, Saturday Night Live stirred up controversy when they allowed presidential candidate and former reality TV star Donald Trump to host the long-running late night show. Much has been written about that divisive episode, but current cast member Pete Davidson just shared a story that’s both unbelievable and, sadly, 100% plausible.

During a recent appearance on Complex’s Open Late with Peter Rosenberg, the comedian claimed that Donald Trump, the man who’s running our country, faked a phone call during the SNL table read.

“He was weird all week,” Davidson said before pantomiming Trump picking up a phone. “Right as we started he’s like, ‘Hello… oh, fantastic. Okay great.’ And then he hung up and he goes, ‘Hey everybody, my book just went No. 1.”‘

At this point, the studio breaks out in laughter as host Peter Rosenberg incredulously says “That did not happen.”

“I swear on my life,” Davidson replied. “And we’re all like, ‘Yo, that phone didn’t ring.'”

People are saying it was the best fake phone call of all the fake phone calls. All time greatest. Huge!

In all seriousness, it’s a bizarre story, sure, but one that could absolutely be true when you consider the never-ending avalanche of weirdness that perpetually surrounds the White House. Davidson mentioned that the “phone call” was suspicious because of the duration of the call and the fact that Trump never paused to let the person on the other line speak.

“He was just like, ‘Hello. Oh that’s great. Great (abruptly hangs up phone). My book went No. 1 everybody!”‘
