John Mayer Takes Over ‘WWHL’ Hosting Duties For Bestie Andy Cohen’s Birthday Celebration

Andy Cohen got the 50th birthday surprise celebration of his life on a special episode of Watch What Happens Live that will air this Sunday at 10pm on Bravo, and is NOT to be missed.

Only moments into the show, one where the host had no idea what to expect, he was booted out of his chair to make room for a very special guest host: his bestie John Mayer! Decider was invited to the taping and can confirm: Cohen was especially giddy and grateful (and totally shocked) to have his pal present for the occasion.

And Mayer was a great host; he led a series of games and guided viewers through Andy’s own vault which includes never before seen footage of him — including a particularly silly clip of him dancing in oversized underwear. “I never wanted this to get out,” Cohen claimed of the embarrassing and enlightening clips shown.

But the surprises didn’t end there: Cohen’s real life besties and life-long friends subbed in as bartenders for the celebration, and he even heard from a Mystery Caller that nearly made him lose his mind. Plus, said Mystery Caller even agreed to a duet with Mayer on the spot, a collaboration we can only hope comes to life. Oh, and you don’t think Mayer left the clubhouse without a performance, do you? Cohen was filled with joy when his musician friend busted out a special performance — one he admitted he learned in two days!
