Netflix’s Queer Eye is the fabulous sensation that’s sweeping the nation, and with a new season on the horizon, we’re learning more and more about the heroes who have appeared on the show. The debut episode of the series introduced us to Tom Jackson, a man who underwent a stunning transformation, and not just on the outside. Still in love with his ex-wife Abby, Tom took a leap and decided to attempt to rekindle their romance – and they’re now remarried! Tom and Abby’s revived love may be one of the best things that have come out of Queer Eye, but it turns out it almost didn’t happen!
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, the Fab 5 revealed that Antoni’s emotional intuition and persistence was the reason Tom wound up inviting Abby on a date. “Antoni shifted that episode,” said Karamo Brown, who had tried to help Tom get back out there by creating a dating profile. This was all thrown out, however, when Antoni noticed that Tom still had feelings for his ex-wife. “Antoni catching that one [comment where Tom mentions Abby] literally cut my scene out, which I’m happy about…. All of a sudden we are on a bench and I’m like, ‘Call your ex-wife!’ [to invite her to the car show].”
“We all have those discoveries in one episode or another,” Porowski modestly added. If Season 1 is any indication of these wonderful kinds of discoveries, we can’t wait to see what Season 2 has in store.
The second season of Queer Eye debuts on Netflix June 15.
