Is Dax Shepard On Part 5 Of ‘The Ranch’?

One of the most intriguing aspects of Season 3 of The Ranch has to do with Dax Shepard. Three months after Netflix fired Danny Masterson, it was announced that the former Parenthood star would be joining the sitcom for Season 3. Deadline reported that Shepard, who previously worked with Ranch star Ashton Kutcher on the MTV prank show Punk’d, would portray a character by the name of Luke Matthews, a former soldier who becomes very friendly with Colt and Beau Bennett. Since Shepard is also starring opposite Lake Bell in Liz Meriwether’s single-camera Fox comedy pilot Bless This Mess, his role on The Ranch will be limited to that of a recurring guest star.

We know Dax is set to appear in Season 3, so did the actor make his Ranch debut in the latest batch of recently released episodes? Did the Part 5 finale introduce his character or set up his arc for the second half of Season 3? Without spoiling Part 5 of The Ranch, the answer… is no.

Shepard will appear in the second half of The Ranch’s 20-episode third season. The Part 5 finale concluded with the departure of Danny Masterson’s Rooster, so Shepard, who will reportedly appear in five of the ten episodes during Part 6, will help to fill the void.

Part 5 of The Ranch is now streaming on Netflix.
