Many Ranch fans devoured all ten episodes of the new season over the weekend. Along with the usual array of drinking and cursing from the Bennett family, viewers were met with a host of new characters: Josh Burrow portrays Mary’s intimidating ex-husband Nick; Wendy Malick appears as Lisa Neumann; and Maggie’s sister drops by The Ranch.

Who exactly is Aunt Karen on The Ranch? Maggie’s sister is portrayed by beloved actress Nancy Travis.

WHEN DOES NANCY TRAVIS’ AUNT KAREN SHOW UP ON THE RANCH?

Maggie’s sister only appears in one episode of Part 5: “Telling Me Lies” (Episode 7).

WHAT HAPPENS BETWEEN MAGGIE AND AUNT KAREN?

It’s not exactly a cordial family reunion between sisters. First, Rooster, unaware he’s talking to a family member, hits on his aunt. From there, things do not improve. Karen reveals that she has cancer, but that doesn’t prevent Maggie from kicking her out of the bar.

Why? Well, this isn’t the first time Karen’s claimed to have cancer. She lied about having the disease in the past, only to use the money to vacation in Ibiza. This time, however, her illness appears to be legitimate.

The sisters eventually reconcile, and the episode concludes with Maggie going to Florida with Karen.

WHERE HAVE I SEEN NANCY TRAVIS BEFORE?

So many places. An accomplished actress of film, television, and the theater, Travis is best known for playing Vanessa Baxter on ABC’s Last Man Standing. You might also recognize her from playing Syliva in the Three Men and a Baby franchise and Harriet Michaels in the cult classic So I Married an Axe Murderer.

Travis also starred in the CBS sitcom Almost Perfect, and joined the cast of Becker for its final two seasons. The actress has appeared on a variety of shows, including Grey’s Anatomy, How I Met Your Mother, and Hart of Dixie. Later this year, she will star opposite Michael Douglas in Chuck Lorre’s Netflix comedy The Kominsky Method.
