When The Sinner debuted on USA last summer, we got some serious shivers down our spine – and immediately started wondering how soon we’d be able to add it to our Netflix queue. Who’d have thought that little Mary Camden would grow up to turn on a dime and stab a stranger to death during a peaceful beach day with her husband Mason (Girls‘ Christopher Abbott) and young son? The first season shocked us with its twists and turns, delving deep into Cora Tannetti’s psyche, and prompting us to theorize about a million different reasons she could have committed this jaw-dropping act of violence with seemingly no motive.
This surprise hit of last summer is a refreshing whydunit, pacing itself deliberately over the course of its short season and ending with a totally shattering conclusion. The series earned Jessica Biel a Golden Globe nomination, so it’s no wonder we’re still thinking about it. We won’t spoil anything here, but whether you’ve watched it already and you’re craving a second binge, or you’re totally new to the series, you’re about to be very happy with this news.

Though the tense thriller was originally intended to be a miniseries, the show was renewed for a second season earlier this year – and we couldn’t be more excited. The second season of The Sinner will premiere on USA on Wednesday, August 1, 2018, which means you won’t have to wait long for new episodes after streaming the first season on Netflix!
