Sony Uploaded an Entire Movie to YouTube by Accident

The next time you complain that a trailer is giving away too much, just remember the tale of Khali the Killer.

On Tuesday morning, a video that was supposed to be just a red-band trailer for the direct-to-video thriller was uploaded to Sony’s official YouTube page. Except this trailer was about 50 times longer than it should have been… because it was the entire movie. Yep, someone at Sony uploaded the entire 90-minute movie to YouTube instead of the trailer–a mistake that reportedly went unnoticed for around eight hours!

Comic Book Resources was one of the first sites to spot the mistake. Sony eventually noticed and removed the video completely, and apparently didn’t even replace it with the red-band trailer. It’s just gone, completely. It’s worth pointing out that Khali the Killer was released on Blu-ray in Germany back in November 2017, and the film is currently available to rent on VOD, so it’s not like the film wasn’t already out there. The problem is, it wasn’t out there for free. You can watch the trailer for Khali the Killer above.

The film stars Richard Cabral as a contract killer that’s hired for one final job, but instead develops feelings for the person he’s hired to kill. If you’re interested in checking the film out and missed the unintended free screening on YouTube, you can rent Khali the Killer in iTunes, Vudu, and Amazon’s Prime Video.

Y’know, this was definitely a goof on Sony’s part, but this has definitely been a big plus for this small film’s visibility. No publicity is bad publicity.
