Sarah Palin Claims That Sacha Baron Cohen “Duped” Her Into a “Sick” Interview

This Sunday is going to be crazy. Days before the premiere of Sacha Baron Cohen‘s Who Is America? this weekend, the comedian, CBS, and Showtime are all in hot water from none other than Sarah Palin. Why? Allegedly Cohen dressed up as a disabled veteran to interview the former vice presidential candidate, and it did not go well.

At this point we only have Palin’s side of the story, and it’s pretty cringe-worthy. After taking a screenshot of a tweet from commentator Mike Drudge about the interview, Palin detailed her account of what happened. “Yup – we were duped. Ya’ got me, Sacha. Feel better now?” she began.

According to Palin, the interview with Cohen and Showtime was presented as a “legit opportunity” to connect with American veterans. Palin and her daughter flew across the country only to meet Cohen, who was allegedly disguised as a disabled veteran complete with a wheelchair. Palin then claims she sat through a long interview that was filled with sarcastic and disrespectful comments but she stayed out of respect to the man she believed was a veteran. After a certain unclarified point, the interview proved to be too much for Palin. The politician removed her mic and stormed out. “The disrespect of our US military and middle-class Americans via Cohen’s foreign commentaries under the guise of interview questions was perverse,” she wrote.

Palin also claims that the Who Is America? production team intentionally drove her and her daughter to the wrong airport to make them miss their flight home. The production team then allegedly refused to answer Palin’s calls “to help get us out of the bind they’d put us in for three days.”

“I join a long list of American public personalities who have fallen victim to the evil, exploitive, sick ‘humor’ of the British ‘comedian’ Sacha Baron Cohen, enabled and sponsored by CBS/Showtime,” she wrote.

The entire Facebook post is packed with fiery language. It’s clear that whatever happened during her interview with Cohen, Palin is not happy about it. But instead of just offering a rant aimed at Cohen, CBS, and Showtime, Palin included a challenge in her post, asking the comedian and networks to donate all proceeds to a charity that supports American veterans. “Mock politicians and innocent public personalities all you want, if that lets you sleep at night, but HOW DARE YOU mock those who have fought and served our country,” she wrote.

Oh also Palin’s daughter thinks Cohen is “a piece of ****” and that “Every honorable American Vet should feel the same.” Showtime has yet to give a response to this story. Sunday can’t get here fast enough.

Who Is America? premieres on Showtime at 10 p.m. ET.
