Donald And Melania Trump Can’t Stop Fighting About What To Watch On TV, And Decider Is Here To Help

There’s a battle brewing in the White House, and this time, it has nothing to do with Russia. Last night, The New York Times reported that President Trump raged at his staff after he saw that Melania‘s Air Force One TV was turned to CNN instead of Fox, his favorite network. Trump remained silent about the issue on Twitter, but this morning, the first lady’s spokesperson told CNN that Melania will watch “any channel she wants,” regardless of her husband’s preferences. Clearly, the Trumps are on separate pages when it comes to TV, but what if there was a way to bring the couple together? Are there any shows out there that could help repair Donald and Melania’s obviously-strained marriage?

Here at Decider, we believe that TV has the power to fix anything — even a rapidly crumbling POTUS/FLOTUS relationship. Donald and Melania may be at odds on more than a few issues, but we’re hopeful that diving into a fictional world of relationships and conflicts will distract them from their very real problems, even just for an hour or two. Nothing makes you forget about being the leaders of the free world quite like the non-strop drama of a reality TV makeover show, right? Here are five TV shows and movies that Donald and Melania Trump should watch ASAP. The fate of the world depends on it.

Queer Eye will bring even the most hardened cynic to tears. The feel-good makeover show is a must-see for Donald and Melania for a variety of reasons: Melania loves fashion, Donald loves fabulous hair styles, and we have to imagine that they both love guacamole. After a long day of listening to senior staffers and press secretaries prattle on about who knows what, Queer Eye will give both the president and the first lady a much-needed chance to unwind.

'Drunk History'

Drunk History is both funny and educational — an ideal mix for our Commander in Chief and his wife. Both Donald and Melania could stand to brush up a bit on their American history, and because each segment is only about five minutes long, the show could function as the bite-sized, quasi-history lesson that these two are looking for. Or, you know, they could just watch it and laugh like the rest of us.

'Suits'

Donald wears suits, Melania wears suits, Barron wears suits — there’s no reason why the Trumps wouldn’t love the hit USA series Suits. The series follows the everyday lives of lawyers in New York City (Donald’s hometown), and the show’s constant legal battles, interpersonal drama, and sexy sex is enough to get any viewer hooked immediately. Suits is currently airing its eighth season, so there’s plenty of content to get the Trumps through the 2020 election.

'MasterChef Junior'

If Donald and Melania think Suits is too mature for Barron, they should try out Masterchef Junior, a kid-centric cooking competition from Gordon Ramsay, the TV cooking world’s resident ball-buster. Donald will definitely take to Ramsay’s fanatical style, and the show could even give the couple a few culinary ideas for their next state dinner. Maybe Barron could train to become a contestant on Season 7?

'The First Monday In May'

Marriage is about compromise, and what says “we have a stable marriage” more than compromising to watch a documentary —GASP!— on Netflix? The First Monday in May gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the Met Gala, Anna Wintour’s opulent, invite-only event. The Trumps have been to the Met Gala before (Donald proposed there in 2004) but this doc will give them an inside look at the event they know so well. High fashion, powerful people, beautiful art — what more could the president and first lady want?
