The Gallaghers are back at it again. Ahead of its return this September, Showtime has dropped the first trailer at the 9th season of its hit dramedy Shameless. The working-class show starring William H. Macy as patriarch Frank and Emmy Rossum as daughter Fiona returns with all the bark and bite its always had as the family dodges naysayers, bad bosses, and–surprisingly–rape culture. That’s right: the bar is gonna be a whole lot less “rapey” this season, because “rapey” is wrong (and also bad for business… but more importantly, it’s wrong).
But that’s not the only wild thing we see in this first look at the veteran show’s new season. It turns out Frank’s been getting around in the PTA group, giving out more than just a smile to many of the wives in his company. And through it all, there’s the constant reminder that nothing is bigger than family–especially when that family is as big and loud as the Gallaghers.
