Chris Hardwick Is Returning To NBC Following Abuse Accusations

Chris Hardwick is returning to NBC after being accused of abusive behavior by ex-girlfriend Chloe Dykstra. On Tuesday, NBC announced that the TV personality will join America’s Got Talent on Tuesday, August 7 as a guest judge and confirmed that Hardwick’s NBC game show The Wall, which he hosts and executive produces, will air on-schedule this fall. Hardwick will continue his role as host for the show’s upcoming third season.

Hardwick’s return to NBC comes just a week after his reinstatement over at AMC, where he hosts Talking DeadThe Walking Dead‘s after show, and Talking with Chris Hardwick, a pop culture talk show. Last week, AMC announced that it had completed its internal investigation into Dyksta’s relationship abuse claims, saying, “Following a comprehensive assessment by AMC, working with Ivy Kagan Bierman of the firm Loeb & Loeb, who has considerable experience in this area, Chris Hardwick will return to AMC as the host of Talking Dead and Talking with Chris Hardwick.” The network continued, “We take these matters very seriously and given the information available to us after a very careful review, including interviews with numerous individuals, we believe returning Chris to work is the appropriate step.”

Hardwick will make his return to Talking Dead on August 12, just in time for the Fear The Walking Dead Season 4 mid-season premiere. He will be replacing Yvette Nicole Brown, who stepped in temporarily to fulfill Hardwick’s Talking Dead and San Diego Comic Con responsibilities.

According to Variety, NBC has not publicly announced whether a formal investigation of Hardwick’s alleged behavior has taken place. However, immediately after Dykstra published a long piece accusing Hardwick of abuse in June, NBC announced that network execs are “continuing to assess the situation and will take appropriate action based on the outcome.” Just a few weeks later, it seems that this “assessment” process has been completed.
