‘Riverdale’ Season 3 Is Eying a Wedding Episode

Riverdale may be known for its investigative and angsty teens, but it’s the adults of the show who have the best secrets. During a panel for the Television Critics Association‘s 2018 tour, The CW showcased its large cast of twisted parents in preparation for its cult-focused third season.

The most exciting takeaway had to do with wedding bells. According to show creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, the insane series is eyeing a wedding between “a certain ex- sheriff and a certain ex-cop.” That almost definitely means Mayor McCoy (Robin Givens) and Sheriff Keller (Martin Cummins) are thinking about walking down the aisle.

That’s not the only big development in this new season. Betty’s father and surprise serial killer Hal Cooper (Lochlyn Munro‎) will somehow make it out of jail with the help of a “very special cake.” This season plans on exploring Betty’s complicated relationship with her father. Also, this new season will fully embrace the Hot Dads of Riverdale, and there’s an exciting flashback episode on the way.

The flashback will happen in Episode 4 of Season 3, and it will be titled “The Midnight Club.” The episode will be similar to The Breakfast Club and center around a huge secret the parents of Riverdale have been hiding, but what makes it remarkable is who’s playing who.

“[Camila Mendes] will be playing a young Hermione. Cole [Sprouse] will be playing a young FP. KJ [Apa] will be dying his hair brown and playing the young Fred Andrews,” Aguirre-Sacasa said. “And we’re going to learn a really, really dark secret the Riverdale parents have been keeping since they were in high school.”

At the moment no one knows much about the beloved teen drama’s third season, but we can guess. A Season 3 trailer for the show that was released during Comic Con teased a lot of bonkers new developments. There are at least two new and surprising hookups. Cheryl Blossom is now affiliated with the South Side Serpents. Betty has been talking to a serial killer on the reg. Oh and because this is Riverdale, there may or may not be a nefarious cult.

Regardless of what insanity happens, we’ll be watching and obsessing over this wild ride.
