Based on Jenny Han’s novel of the same name, To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before tells the story of an Asian-American high school girl whose life is turned upside down when her private fantasies are shared with the world. Not in a rom-com mood? Don’t miss Darkest Hour, Gary Oldman’s take on Winston Churchill’s early days as Prime Minister. The Oscar-winning film debuts on HBO this Saturday, and it’s perfect if you’re interested in spending a relaxing night in.

Disenchantment: Season 1

Matt Groening’s new comedy is all about fantasies: dark fantasies, to be exact. In medieval Dreamland, Princess Bean (Abbi Jacobson), a hard-drinking royal, begins to get tired of the whole sitting-on-the-throne thing, and she forges out into the world with her feisty elf companion Elfo (Nat Faxo) by her side. As Princess Bean and Elfo travel through the land, they encounter ogres, sprites, harpies, and other fantastic beings, all of whom are voiced by A-list stars. With voice cameos from John DiMaggio, Billy West, Maurice LaMarche, Tress MacNeille, and more, Disenchantment is a fantasy-meets-The Simpsons combo that you won’t want to miss.

To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

Lara Jean Covey (Lana Condor) is a shy high school girl who lives out her romantic fantasies through elaborate love letters to her many crushes. Lara Jean is perfectly content to continue on this way — although her family wishes she’d put herself out there more — but one day, her life is upended when the letters are mailed out and each boy learns about her true feelings. As Lara Jean’s life spirals out of control, she reaches out to Peter (Noah Centineo), one of her crushes, for help, and their friendship quickly grows into something much more.

Darkest Hour

This Saturday, Gary Oldman’s Darkest Hour hits HBO, and it would behoove you to watch it. Oldman stars as Winston Churchill, Britain’s beloved Prime Minister, during the early days of his tenure from 1940 to 1945. As Churchill contends with the realities of World War II, he struggles to reconcile the varying interests of Parliament, the monarchy, and the public, and things only become more contentious as German forces inch closer and closer. Many actors have taken on Churchill, but few do it with Oldman’s passion, and the Academy took note: his stunning performance earned him the Oscar for Best Actor at the 2018 ceremony.
