'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' at 10: The Movie That Made (and Ruined) the MCU
The moment Marvel fans have been waiting for is finally here: we now know exactly when Black Panther will arrive on Netflix.
Following in the footsteps of previous Marvel Studios movies, the groundbreaking blockbuster will arrive on the streaming service on September 4. The film will join a number of other MCU movies already streaming on Netflix, including Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Thor: Ragnarok.
The addition follows a familiar pattern with Disney movies and Netflix: they hit the streaming service roughly seven months after their theatrical debut. The only wrinkle there being Spider-Man: Homecoming, since the 2017 MCU movie was a co-production with Sony Pictures and presumably not eligible for the deal between Disney and Netflix. But whatever–you can still stream a mighty Marvel marathon beginning on September 4.
As with previous Marvel Studios movies, it’s likely that Black Panther will be on Netflix for the next year and a half. After that, it will most likely stream on Disney’s upcoming, still untitled service. After all, we now know that Avengers: Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp will be the final two Marvel movies to stream on Netflix when they arrive in a few months. But why worry about that now? Netflix is your ticket to Wakanda beginning on September 4, and that’s great news.
